Is it normal for a 13 year old to like knitting, reading, cooking and other "boring" stuff?

Is it normal for a 13 year old to like knitting, reading, cooking and other "boring" stuff?

There is no such thing as "normal", especially when you're a teenager! If you like it, it's not boring to you, so who cares what anyone else may think?

They will be impressed in ten years when you're a well-read intelligent adult who can cook them a delicious meal while wearing a beautiful handmade sweater!

I bet you are not the only one at your school who enjoys these things - try starting a knitting club and see who joins. You can make hats for cancer patients or blankets for premature babies and make it a charity project - it may even count towards service hours if your school requires volunteering to graduation.

What's boring to one is not necessarily boring to another. At least this 13 year old is doing SOMETHING! What I would like to know is what is wrong/boring about it? Reading is wonderful. It opens up new worlds. You can transport yourself away from today's world. Not only that, but there is so much you can learn from books. Knitting gives you a skill that would lead you anywhere. Cooking? Hey, you gotta eat anyway. Might as well know how to do it instead of giving all that money for someone else to do it for you.

Many people don't find any of these things boring. You know that there
are book clubs all over the place. There are also Knitting clubs. And of
course what better than to be able to cook delicious meals. I love all
of these things. I started cooking in the kitchen with my mom when I was about 8. I started out baking and then making up my own menues.

I have a 13-year-old myself, and watching her behavior I would say that knitting does seem unnatural. Although I do not think reading and cooking is not normal unless it's all the time. If it is all the time, try encouraging your child to join more groups or clubs.

i don't think you should be insecure about your hobbies o.O
when i was 13, at school there was this knitting club and my friends would hang out there nd race to see who finished making a scarf first
in high school all my friends loved to cook. when we made it, it looked like shyt but it was hella yummy. xD

When I was 13 I loved cooking and reading reading is like television but instead of sitting on your *** you are learning and tv they hardly get new shoes I am guessing by other boring stuff is like fishing every boy loves fishing hell if you dont catch anything you learn what not to use mabeyu one day he'll be a rohan martin

lol, well i'm fifteen, and i LOVVEEE to read and i enjoy helping my aunt bake. i never liked knitting though (but thats your preference). anyways, you're fine. you are who you are -- don't go changing that because dumb people think it's not "cool". <3

It's definitely normal!
It's just who you are and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!
I personally think it's really cool that you do something other than sit in front of a computer or TV like many other teenagers :)

It's normal for a 13 year-old to have interests, and none of those are boring, especially not reading.

definitely! it's only boring if you think it's boring. at least you have hobbies!!

ya! im in to that stuff too. im in the band, cooking class, sewing class, computer class, etc. so ya its normal!

Its perfectly normal, plus its just practice for when your an old granny! If you enjoy it is the real important bit.

yeah its achually useful stuff most guys just sit on there asses and play video games all day

Hi:
